Davide R. Friedman
is a 30-year veteran of the packaging industry and has served as Senior
Packaging Scientist at General Mills since 1985. In October of 2010 he retired
from General Mills after 25 years and created Fibre Tech Packaging Solutions
L.L.C. He is now working as an Independent Consultant in the Packaging Industry.
In 1996, Friedman worked for one year as Operations Manager at Harper Corporation, and then returned to General Mills. Prior to 1985, Friedman Supervisor of Physical Testing at Stone Container Corporation and he began his career as a Packaging Technologies with American Pouch Foods. In 2000, Friedman earned the IOPP-Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) designation, and also is a member of FTA and the ASTM D-10 and F-2 Committees. He has contributed heavily to the corrugated industry through research and development, container testing, design and specification, and through numerous Technical Information Sheets.
Friedman has been an active member of TAPPI since 1985 and has held a numerous positions within the association, including serving on the Board of Directors Operating Committee (1998-2001), Corrugated Division Chairman (1996) and served as a Board Member of the Minneapolis Local Section. He holds three patents, and has been published in Packaging Magazine, R&D Associates Magazine and at the University of Wisconsin's Forest Products Lab.
Friedman's fields of specialization include the Corrugated Packaging Converting Process and how it affects package performance in the real world including structural design, development of performance based specifications and Distribution/Supply Chain Damage and Unsalables.
He is an active speaker within the industry, having presented at conferences such as the Council of Logistics Management, IOPP Minneapolis, FTA, ISTA and China TAPPI, and has guest lectured at Michigan State University.
